First Test of Autonomous Driverless Flying Taxi

Driverless drone means a flying drone which is flying in air and it is operate or controlled by remote or by autonomously using software controlled.

Israel Conducts First Test of Autonomous Flying Taxi to Ease Traffic Congestion.

11 drone operating and delivery companies were involved in tests and experimental flights throughout Israel last week. This trial is for two years. The capacity of the drone is to carry two people or 220kg at the distance of 160km/hr.

Now a drone was come to know that it carries people, good, papers etc. without driver. The Country that was started first test of autonomous driverless drone taxi is Israel. Israel has begun conducting initial tests of autonomous drones that is capable of carrying passengers and cargo, goods, etc. in a bid to ease traffic congestion.

The government of Israel led pilot project, also known as the Israel National Drone Initiative (INDI), aims to create a national drone network and prepare the sky for drone deliveries. The project, a joint collaboration between the Transportation Ministry, the Israel Innovation Authority, Ayalon Highways Limited, and the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI), marks the first use of such technology in the Jewish state to get ease from traffic.

Israel has begun conducting the test of first autonomous driverless drone taxi that could serve public transportation one day in a large number. Israel hopes that these flying vehicles will help to get relive from heavy traffic problems.
A series of tests and experimental flights were conducted throughout Israel over the past week by 11 companies, in the context of Israel’s National Drone Initiative (INDI).

“The aircraft being tested now will be able to bypass traffic jams and ease congestion by removing large number of cars and trucks from the roads, in conjunction with air traffic management systems,” said Orly Stern, CEO of Ayalon Highways.

11 drone operating and delivery companies were involved in tests and experimental flights throughout Israel last week. This is the second phase of the experiment, which began in January and involved an investment of around $60 million to develop drone infrastructure over the next two years.

During the first phase of the initiative, which lasted until 2022 and focused on small cargo flights, more than 60 million shekels (USD 16 million) were invested in testing. The current phase aims to increase payload capacity and range, as well the development of a “system of aerial routes in the skies. “So, that this could be faster and beneficial for the future.

The goal is to build an ecosystem where these flying drones will not only help in relive from traffic problems but also from air pollution, sound pollution which occur through buses, cars, trucks etc. Among the drones tested over the past week was AIR ZERO, manufactured in Israel, which can accommodate up to two passengers and a total payload of up to 220 kilograms for a distance of up to 160 kilometers. Dorney, Cando Drones, and Down Wind also conducted test flights with autonomous drones.

The companies participating in the initiative will conduct test flights across the country for one week each month, over the next two years. These flights will take place in controlled airspace, will cover distances of up to 150 kilometers, and will involve heavier payloads.

According to the National Drone Project, over 19,000 sorties have been flown in the past three years. 'Israel is one of the global leaders in this field, and today's experiment is an important milestone in the National Drone Initiative which gained international acclaim,'' said IAA Director-General Dror Bin.

Ayalon Highways will continue to serve as the pilot site for conducting the demonstrations and will provide the companies with space in its metropolitan control and monitoring Centre (ANI/TPS).
